Botox® and fillers, as well as photofacials, can restore and help you maintain a more youthful look. But when aging and gravity catch up to you, these cosmetic treatments may no longer be enough to prevent the saggy, loose skin that creates facial lines and creases.

At this point, you may be thinking it’s time for a facelift. But surgery is no longer your only option for lifting the sagging skin and smooth out those lines and creases.

Here at Montclair Rejuvenation Center in Verona, New Jersey, Dr. Kelly Distefano and our team of experienced aestheticians offer many non-surgical beauty treatments to help you look as young as you feel.

If you’re longing for the benefits of a facelift, but think twice because of the lengthy recovery time, then it’s time to consider PDO threads.

Aging and your skin

Wrinkles are one of the most visible signs of the aging process. Like many of your other organs, your skin changes as you get older. These changes cause your skin to thin, loosen, and sag.

The good news is, with advances in aesthetic technology, we offer many non-surgical treatments to help fight the visible signs of aging and help you keep your smooth, vibrant, and youthful look.

But when your cheeks and jowls start to drop, you may think it’s time for a more drastic approach to manage your aging skin: the surgical facelift. Though the facelift used to be your only option for lifting saggy skin, there are other beauty treatments you can consider, like PDO threads.

PDO threads to the rescue

During a traditional facelift, a plastic surgeon makes incisions along your hairline or around your ears to lift and tighten your saggy jowls and cheeks and remove excess skin.

PDO (polydioxanone) threads follow the same line of thinking as a facelift, but without the need for incisions. Instead, we use special sutures to lift and anchor your lax skin.

During what we call a PDO thread lift, we use a fine needle to carefully inject the suture into any loose areas of your skin, including your cheeks, forehead, and lips. We can even use PDO threads to smooth and lift the saggy skin under your chin.

So instead of surgically removing your excess skin, we use the PDO threads to stitch and suspend the excess skin. This creates a lifting and smoothing effect that delivers the facelift look without surgery.

PDO threads only take a few minutes to place and there’s no need for downtime following the treatment. However, we may recommend you limit some activities, such as heavy lifting and strenuous exercise, for about two weeks following your procedure.

Added benefits of PDO threads

You should notice an immediate improvement in your look after placement of your PDO threads. But that’s not the only benefit of this in-office beauty treatment.

When placed, the PDO threads create an injury that stimulates your skin’s production of collagen. Collagen is the structural protein that keeps youthful skin strong and resilient.

Over time, the PDO threads dissolve, but the beauty treatment activates your skin’s natural rejuvenation process, improving the tone and firmness of your skin.

The benefits of your PDO threads may last up to three years and delay or prevent your need for a surgical facelift.

If you’re longing for the beauty benefits of a facelift, but don’t want surgery, then PDO threads may be the answer for you.
